Written to the editor of the Hibbert Journal, Doyle offers an article "called 'The Mystery ofthe Fox Sisters' of a critical nature concerning their life history". He adds that he would "like the question ventilated" and would be willing to let his correspondent have the article free for inclusion in an early issue. The Fox sisters were mediums and this letter reflects Doyle's interest in spiritualism and the occult.
